Dallas Business Journal Says Dallas Leads In Construction

Great news for Dallas: a new report by the Dallas Business Journal says that Dallas-Forth Worth leads Texas in “construction starts” this year.
“The 2009 forecast calls for $14.1 billion in construction starts in North Texas, compared to $12.5 billion in the Houston-Baytown-Sugarland area, $4.9 billion in San Antonio and $4.4 billion in Austin.  The $14.1 billion in D-FW breaks down into $4.2 billion in residential construction, $6.3 billion in nonresidential and $3.6 billion in non-building construction, according to the forecast.”

Forbes Says Dallas Top 25 Places To Move

Interested in relocating to Dallas? A new study by Forbes says the Dallas Metroplex has six cities in their “Top 25 Places To Move” list.
Nicknamed “Relovilles,” these cities have populations of 25,000 or more and include a high number of residents born out of state who’ve moved from a considerable distance for a specific job. Further, according to Forbes.com, these top 25 generally have “twice the incomes, twice the home values and twice the home sizes.”

Declare Your Financial Independence – Buy a Dallas Condo for $150,000 or Less

A recent report by the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University noted that overall home prices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area have been reset to 1990s levels (when adjusted for inflation). Additionally, the latest Standard & Poor/Case-Shiller index showed that Dallas-Fort Worth‘s home prices aren’t showing signs of a rebound anytime soon. In fact, as of April 2009, home prices are down five percent in the Metroplex compared to April of last year.
